First Shows/Single Being Released in Norway/CMJ Showcase!

Oliver rocking the bass

Once again I’ve been terribly negligent about keeping you all updated (although i’ve been decent about my twitter updates, but i realize that isn’t the same).
Well, first of all, we have started performing live. We were blessed to have Oliver come on board at the last minute to play killer bass for us. He was a tried and true What What Where member back in the day, and a perfect fit for the Syvia family.
Our first Syvia show was on July 24, 2010 at Ella Lounge and our second was on July 30, 2010 at Arlene’s Grocery…the same spot I had my first show in NYC four years ago. We had such a blast, with little technical glitches and everything (somehow they went unnoticed. go figure. things on stage always seem more dramatic than when you are in the audience.) We even lined up another show at The Delancey on August 11th opening for Plushgun and got asked to be on Gigmaven.com’s CMJ showcase in October. Yea, we’re pretty happy and are already trying to figure out how we can make it to SXSW 2011. At this point it is kind of my dream performance venue since I’ve always gone as a fan and never as a musician.
AND
The song “Never See” from Syvia’s first iteration as the collaborative efforts of me and John Majer will be officially released on Breaking Olympic Records at the beginning of August on a vinyl split single. So excited to have that in hand, and I’m sure we’ll have a couple to give out to some special fans.
Thank you to everyone who has come out and continued to support us along the way. We couldn’t do it without you.

*** Special thanks to Luay Bahoora for his beautiful photos. Check out some other (non-Syvia) gorgeous shots here http://photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=932710

{Other update: I got a smartphone! But I still have problems updating this blog šŸ™‚ Haha. Such is life. }
